What is a Veteran Student?
A Veteran Student is anyone who has served in the U.S. Armed Forces, including active duty, reserves, or the National Guard. A Veteran Dependent is a spouse or child of a U.S. military veteran who may be eligible for education benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).
Chapter Benefits
Chapter benefits refer to specific education programs offered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) under different “chapters” of the GI Bill® based on a service member’s or veteran’s military status and eligibility. Each chapter provides financial support for tuition, housing, books, and other educational expenses. All chapter benefits are processed by the Veterans Service Office. For questions directly relating to you education benefits through the VA, please contact them at veteranservices@ucmerced.edu.
